Parent Support Group – ��Vlog��ý American School

The Parent Support Group at UAS serves as a valuable community resource designed to foster collaboration, understanding, and support among parents. Our purpose is to create a network where parents can share experiences, exchange insights, and offer assistance to one another in navigating the challenges and joys of raising children within an international educational environment. Through regular meetings, events, and open communication, the group aims to strengthen the sense of community and contribute to the overall well-being of both students and their families. Join us in building a supportive network that enhances the educational journey of our children at the ��Vlog��ý American School.

GET INVOLVED

There are many ways parents can get involved in the Parent Support Group (PSG), from volunteering at events to being a room parent or grade level booster, or becoming a member of the PSG committee.�� Whether you have an hour to give or much more, we would love to have your help.��

We are always looking for committee members and chairs for all of the following events. Please send an email to psg@uas.edu.uy if you are interested or if you would like more information.

EVENTS

Welcome New Family Events

The PSG organizes events to welcome our new families to UAS and Uruguay. The events integrate new families with existing UAS families and staff and promote our international diversity. Past events have included food trucks, “asados”, soccer matches, crafts, games, and coffee mornings.

Teacher and Staff Appreciation Day

Each year we dedicate a day to celebrate UAS’s remarkable teachers and staff.

Thanksgiving Lunch

Thanksgiving is a U.S. holiday that is spent with family and friends to give thanks.�� Most families celebrate it with a large meal.�� At UAS we celebrate this holiday with the whole school having lunch together. The annual Thanksgiving lunch at UAS helps our school community cultivate thankfulness, encourages secondary and elementary interaction, and fosters parent team building. It is truly a coming together of the whole UAS community in a way that celebrates a wonderful American tradition. Many volunteers are needed to make this event amazing!

EVENTS

International Festival

The International Festival is a stupendous celebration, where students and families can visit booths from over 20 countries which make up UAS’s diverse community. Enjoy food and drink from all around the world, and learn about different cultures. The International Festival fosters our multicultural community, shares our traditions, and celebrates our diversity.

Flea Market

The PSG organizes a flea market in which individuals can sell or purchase second-hand items as well as crafts from local artisans. It is a nice opportunity for families that are moving to sell items they no longer need. Many people from outside the UAS community come for this well-known event.

Community Events

We support UAS student organizations with their community service initiatives. In the past, we have supported many local schools and charities including SOS Fauna Marina, ReachingU, Madres de Cruz, and Fundación MIR.
