UAS is firmly committed to offering first-rate facilities to create a comfortable and productive learning environment.
Campus
The school is on a well-maintained three-hectare campus in the eastern Montevideo suburb of Carrasco. The facilities occupy 7,100 square meters of building space for the Nursery through Secondary School students. Facilities include an elementary and a secondary wing, a large library, computer labs, a Design Lab, fully equipped science laboratories, two gymnasiums, a fitness center, outdoor sports fields, an auditorium, and a cafeteria. The campus also includes a regulation soccer field, a hard court and three playground areas. The Early Childhood playground area can be accessed directly from the classrooms and is physically separated from the other areas by a fence.
Classrooms
The spacious, air conditioned classrooms receive ample natural light and are equipped with interactive whiteboards. Â There are four large, modern, purpose-built science labs connected by shared, well-stocked storage and preparation rooms. The labs are outfitted with gas, fume hoods, sinks, storage space, and separate sections for lecture and lab activities.
Flexible Learning Spaces
In 2016 UAS added two large, 250-square meter flexible learning spaces in the Secondary School. The center of each space is carpeted and features colorful and comfortable seating options, such as modular couches and booth seats, and long wooden countertops for individual student work stations. The carpeted spaces are flanked by open areas furnished with computer workstations, adjustable height tables, and a small bleacher. The furniture can be moved easily and broken apart to allow for a wide variety of configurations. At the far end of each flexible space is a small classroom separated by a retractable glass wall, which opens to increase the flexible space or closes to create a small traditional classroom. The flexible learning spaces contain a high density of internet connections and charging stations.
Media Center
UAS features a beautiful Media Center which serves Nursery through Grade 12 and houses separate English and Spanish book collections for Elementary and Secondary students. The Media Center collection contains more than 19,000 books, numerous magazine titles, CDs and DVDs. There are reading areas with comfortable beanbags or sofa and access to Apple and PC computers.
Auditorium
The 225-square meter auditorium can hold up to 300 people. It features a parquet floor, air conditioning, dressing rooms, and retractable panels that can be opened to create a larger event space. The auditorium includes a stage equipped with lights and a sound system for drama productions.
Computer Lab and Mobile Technology
The Computer Lab contains 36 PC computers with the latest software applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Design Premium CS. There is a laser printer and a 3D printer. Besides the computer lab, UAS also has PC laptop carts, Mac laptop carts, and an iPad cart.
Gymnasiums
Two large and luminous gymnasiums, one inaugurated in November 2021. An ideal place to practice and have fun. Students can play on the multipurpose court in the gymnasium, basketball, volleyball, and soccer. The gym area also includes a fully equipped weight room and locker rooms.
